4 sandwiches are cut into thirds i.e. they become 4 * 3 = 12 pieces
Each piece = 1/3 of a sandwich
4 sandwiches are cut into halves i.e. they become 4 * 2 = 8pieces
Each piece = 1/2 of a sandwich
Amanda eats 2 of the one-third pieces i.e. she eats (2 * 1/3 = 2/3) of a sandwich
Brother eats 2 of the one-half pieces i.e. she eats (2/2) of a sandwich or 1 sandwich
Totally there are 8 sandwiches.
So fraction eaten by Amanda = %282%2F3%29+%2F+8+=+1%2F12
So fraction eaten by brother = %281%29+%2F+8+=+1%2F8
