How long will it take for the car and bicycle to meet if starting at opposite towns at the same time?

From the condition, the car is 4 times as fast as the bicycle.


So, the car will cover 4 times the distance covered by the bicycle.


In other words, the car will cover  4%2F5 of the distance between the towns, 
while the bicycle will cover only  1%2F5  of the distance.


Hence, the car will spend  4%2F5  of 2 hours, or  4*24 = 96 minutes.


The bicycle will spend the same time of 96 minutes (which is  1%2F5  of 8 hours).


ANSWER.  How long = 96 minutes = 1 hour and 36 minutes.
