I am working on a problem involving polynomials. The problem is below:
A piece of luggage has a base whose area is 6x^2-7x-5. The width of the luggage is 2x+1 what is the length?
I got the answer: The length of the luggage is (3x-5). I am not sure if this is correct.
Here is my work shown:
-10 and 3 multiply to = -30 and subtract to = -7. The equation then goes from
6x^2-7x-5 to 6x^2-10x+3x-5. Separate it to (6x^2-10x)+(3x-5)= (3x-5)(2x+1)
Is this solution correct and are there any errors in the steps?
