Question 1153434: Hello,
I am working on problems involving finding the factored form of the polynomial expression. However, I am not at all sure how to even began to solve it. Here is one of the questions:

Which of the following is the factored form of the polynomial expression x^2-6x-7 x 2 − 6 x − 7 ?
Group of answer choices
(x + 7)(x - 1)
(x + 1)(x - 7)
(x + 1)(x - 6)
(x + 6)(x - 1)
How do I figure out how to solve this problem?

Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Which of the following is the factored form of the polynomial expression

your expression: x%5E2-6x-7+
to factor it, first form two groups with two terms each
x%5E2-6x-7+-> to form groups, write -6x as x-7x
x%5E2%2Bx-7x-7+-> group first two terms and second two term together
%28x%5E2%2Bx%29-%287x%2B7+%29......factor out x from the first group, and 7 from the second group
x%28x%2B1%29-7%28x%2B1+%29
%28x%2B1+%29%28x-7%29-> your answer

answer choices
%28x+%2B+1%29%28x+-+7%29
