In 40 hours, the carpenter makes 40x and the helper 40(x-10) or 40x-400
That sum is 1600
80x-400=1600
80x=2000
x=$25/hour carpenter
so in 40 hours makes $1000
and the helper makes $15/hour or $600 in 40 hours/\
