Can you please explain this question.
Ms Teo made some muffins to sell. 4/5 of them were chocolate muffins and the rest were blueberry muffins. After selling 84 blueberry muffins and 5/8 of the chocolate muffins, she had 2/5 of the muffins left. How many muffins did Ms Teo sell?
Let original number of muffins be M
Then , or of muffins were chocolate, and so, were blueberry
Selling of chocolate means that of chocolate muffins were sold
After selling 84 blueberry and chocolate, she had left, so of muffins were sold
We then get:
840 + 5M = 6M ------- Multiplying by LCD, 10
840 = 6M - 5M
M, or original number of muffins = 840
As of muffins were sold, then of the muffins were sold
