Question 1151827: A car slows down uniformly from a speed of 29.0 m/s to rest in 7.20 s. How far did it travel in that time? Answer by ikleyn(52798) (Show Source):
There are several ways to get the answer.
1. First calculate deceleration a = = 4.027778 m/s^2.
Next calculate the distance d = = = 104.4 meters.
2. Or do the calculation, using average speed = = 14.5 m/s.
Then the distance to the rest is d = = 14.5*7.20 = 104.4 meters --- the same answer.
If this problem came from Physics / Mechanics, then it should be explained in these courses.
