You can put this solution on YOUR website! From his home, Ben would have to walk due north to get to his friend Vivian's house and due east to get to his friend Carly's house. It is 1 mile from Ben's house to Carly's house and a straight-line distance of 2 miles from Vivian's house to Carly's house. How far is Ben's house from Vivian's house? If necessary, round to the nearest tenth.
This doesn't seem to make any sense at all!
With the right-triangle formed, it appears as though the hypotenuse is 1 and one of the legs is 2, which is IMPOSSIBLE.
Unless, of course, the RIGHT angle is located at Ben's house, in which case the distance from Ben's to Vivian's house is:
which makes only ONE of the other 2 answers correct!
