Question 1150601: Find the odds for and the odds against the event rolling a fair die and getting a 3 a 5 or a 4.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
There are 3 good outcomes: 3, 5, or 4; and there are 3 bad outcomes: 1, 2, or 6.
"Odds for" compare the number of good outcomes to the number of bad outcomes; "odds against" compare the number of bad outcomes to the number of good outcomes.
So the odds for getting a 3, 5, or 4 are 3:3 or 1:1; and the odds against getting a 3, 5, or 4 are also 3:3 or 1:1.
