Please help me with this word problem. Alfonso is 8 years older than Lauren. In 6 years the sum of their ages will be 84. How old is Alfonso now?
Let Alphanso's age be A

Then Lauren's is A - 8

Since in 6 years, their ages will sum to 84, their ages now sum to 84 - 2(6), or 84 - 12 = 72

Therefore, we get: A + A - 8 = 72

2A = 80
