You can put this solution on YOUR website! The length of a rectangle is 5 yd longer than its width.
L = w + 5
or
L - w = 5
If the perimeter of the rectangle is 50 yd,
2L + 2w = 50
simplify, divide by 2, use elimination with the 1st equation
L + w = 25
L - w = 5
-------------addition eliminates w, find L
2L + 0 = 30
L = 30/2
L = 15 is the length
then
15 - 5 = 10 is the width
"find its area."
15 * 10 = 150 sq/yds is the area
