Question 1147636: Write the equation of a line that is parallel to y= -2x +4 and passes through the point (4,0). Explain why the two lines are parallel, giving at least 2 reasons to back up your claim.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
parallel lines have the same slope, so this new line has to be of the form y=-2x
the point (4, 0) goes through the origin, so the line is y=-2x
they have different intercepts which means they aren't the same line.
-2x does not equal -2x+4 so there is no solution, which means they are different lines that never intersect.
