x for Sara, y for Bryan.


    x + y = 47.50    (1)

    x - y = 15.50    (2)


Add the equation; you will eliminate "y" and will get


    2x = 47.50 + 15.50 = 63.  


Hence,  x = 63%2F2 = 31.50  (Sara).


Then from equation (1),  y = 47.50 - 31.50 = 16  (Bryan).
