            If you never solved such problems before on your own, then it deserves the solution to be presented in steps.

(u-10)^2 - 44 = 0. Add 44 to both sides. (u-10)^2 = 44. Take the square root from both sides u - 10 = +/- . Add 10 to both sides. u = 10 +/- u = 10 +/- . Thus you just have the formula for two roots. This formula is the same as the quadratic formula.
