Question 11452: How do you solve an equation that is set up like this 3/4 (x-5)= -12. I have tried multipling by what I believe is the LCD 4, I have tried dividing by 4/3. I still cannot get the right answer. Please help! Answer by usyim88hk(158) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! First of all, multiply 4/3 to both sides!
(4/3)(3/4)(x-5) = (-12)(4/3)
(x-5) = (-16)
then just add 5 to both sides
x-5+5 = -16+5
x = -11
