You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
A new type of pump can highlight%28cross%28train%29%29 drain a certain pool in 9 hours. an older pump can drain the pool in 11 hours.
how long will it take both pumps working together to drain the pool?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The new pump drains  1%2F9  of the pool volume in our (in each hour).
The old pump drains  1%2F11  of the pool volume in our (in each hour).
Working together, the two pumps drain  1%2F9 + 1%2F11 = 11%2F99+%2B+9%2F99 = 20%2F99 of the pump volume per hour.
Hence, it will take  99%2F20 hours = 419%2F20 hours = 4 hours and 57 minutes for two pumps working together to drain the pool.
