You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
The distance traveled at the average rate of 120 km/h is

    (average rate)*time = 120*0.5 = 60 kilometers.

The distance traveled at the average rate of 80 km/h is

    (average rate)*time = 80%2A%283%2F4%29 = 60 kilometers.

The total distance is 60 km + 60 km = 120 km.

ANSWER. The driver traveled 120 kilometers.

-------------

Side note.   We can not state that the distance from the start to the destination is  120  kilometers,

since the problem does not say that the path / (the road) is a straight line.

But we can state (and I do it) that the entire traveled distance is 120 kilometers.
