You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x = "a number"
:
Then just write what is says, Usually the word "is" means equal in these problems
The reciprocal of 2 is 1/2, right?
:
A number minus two is equal to that number times the reciprocal of two. What is the number?
:
x - 2 = x * 1%2F2
:
Multiply the equation by 2 to get rid of the denominator
2(x-2) = 2(1%2F2x)
:
2x - 4 = x
:
2x - x = +4
:
x = 4
