Question 1141498: Hello,
I'm not exactly sure how to solve this question and I would appreciate some help.
The university police department keeps track of the number of tickets it writes in a year. Last year the campus police wrote 1460 tickets. Ticket writing on campus follows a Poisson process. What is the standard deviation of the number of tickets written per day by the police?
Thank you very much!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1460 tickets is 4 tickets a day, which is the mean or Poisson parameter lambda
the variance in a Poisson function is the same as the mean, so variance is 4 and sd sqrt(4)=2
