Question 1141391: A company makes steel rods shaped like cylinders. Each rod has a diameter of
4 centimeters and a height of 90 centimeters. If the company used 30,520.8 centimeters cube of steel, how many rods did it make?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The volume of each rod is +V+=+pi%2Ar%5E2%2Ah++=+pi%2A%284%2F2%29%5E2%2A90+ = 1130.973 cm^3

Now divide the volume consumed by the volume of each rod:
+30520.8%2F+1130.973+ = 26.986 (they can make +highlight%28matrix%281%2C2%2C%22+26%22%2C+%22+rods%22%29%29+, with just less than one rod's worth of material left over)

Side note: I ignored the possibility that the stock material has a shape that allows fewer rods to be made.
Be aware that sometimes the geometry given for the stock material will also come into play.
