You can put this solution on YOUR website! At the end of the summer a drain is left open, and the pool empties in 24 hours. If the pool attendant who is preparing the pool for opening day forgets to plug the drain, can the pool be filled in one day? If so, how long will it take? If not, explain why not.

If "one day" means 24 hours, then the flow in = the flow out, and it would never be filled.

The question as posed can't be answered, because there is nothing that tells us how long it takes to fill the pool if the drain is closed.
The response from the other tutor assumes the rate of filling is the same as the rate of draining; in that case of course the pool would never get filled.
And of course if the rate of filling is less than the rate of draining, then the pool will never get filled; any water that is added will drain immediately.
But if the rate of filling is greater than the rate of draining, then water will accumulate, and eventually the pool will get filled.
But the number of hours that will take depends on the filling rate.
