Question 1141224: Hello,
I'm having a little trouble with the following:
During the first 6 years of its operation, the Hubble Space Telescope circled the Earth 37,000 times, for a total of 1,280,000,000 km. It takes the Hubble Telescope about 90 minutes to make one complete orbit. How fast is it traveling (in units of km/min)? *Distance=time x speed. Round your answer to the nearest integer.
Thank you in advance

You can put this solution on YOUR website! during the course of 6 years, it circled the earth 37000 times for a total of 1280,000,000 kilometers.
it takes about 90 minutes to maker one complete revolution.
1280,000,000 / 37000 = 34594.59459 kilometers per each revolutuion about the earth.
if that takes 90 minutes, then it takes 1.5 hours.
rate * time = distance.
time = 1.5 hours
distance = 34594.59459 kilometers.
rate = distance / time = 34594.59459 kilometers / 1.5 hours = 23063.06306 kilometers per hour.
