You can put this solution on YOUR website! faster computer takes x minutes
in 1 minute, it does 1/x of the whole thing and the slower computer does 1/30 of the whole thing
(10/x)+(10/30)=1 whole project
multiply both sides by 30x
300+10x=30x
20x=300
x=15 minutes for faster computer
in 10 minutes, it does 2/3. and in 10 minutes, the slower computer does 1/3.
The slower computer takes 30 minutes to do the job alone. So when the two computers together do the job in 10 minutes, the fraction of the job that the slower computer does is 10/30 = 1/3.
That means in those 10 minutes the faster computer does 2/3 of the job.
And that in turn means the amount of time it takes the faster computer to do the job alone is 3/2 times 10 minutes = 15 minutes.
