It's not surprising that you have no idea where to start; the phrasing of the question makes no sense by any interpretation of English that I know.
The instructions say "calculate the coordinates of M in terms of t if...". For that to make sense, the "if" must be followed by a phrase containing a verb; but it does not.
Check to see if you have quoted the problem correctly....
