Question 1139997: I read the chapter but dont understand how to solve this problem ...
You wish to test the following claim (Ha) at a significance level of α=0.05.
Ho:μ=85.2
Ha:μ<85.2
You believe the population is normally distributed, but you do not know the standard deviation. You obtain a sample of size n=104 with a mean of M=79.1and a standard deviation of SD=14.7.
What is the critical value for this test? (Report answer accurate to three decimal places.)
critical value=

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The critical value is for a 1 way t-test with df=103 and alpha=0.05
1.660 is t for df=100 and 1.660 for df=103 ANSWER
the test statistic is t=(79.1-85.2)/14.7/sqrt(104)=-4.23
