The the number of cupcakes is (2x+4).
x + (2x+4) = 52.
3x + 4 = 52
3x = 52 - 4 = 48.
x = 48/3 = 16 is the number of cookies.
Then the number of cupcakes is 2*16+4 = 36. AMSWERCHECK. 36 + 16 = 52. ! Correct !
