Let Siti's amount and Betty's amount be 2x and 5x, respectively; whatever x turns out to be, the ratio will be 2/5.
Betty is going to give Siti 1/2 of her money. That would be 2.5x, or (5/2)x.
Let's be lazy and avoid working with fractions or decimals. We'll go back and make the original amounts 4x and 10x instead of 2x and 5x. Now half of Betty's amount is 5x.
So the two of them start with 4x and 10x; then Betty gives Siti 5x. That makes the two amounts 4x+5x=9x and 10x-5x=5x; the new ratio is 9x/5x = 9/5.
