f(x)= (8x/9)-(2/9) = (8x-2)/9
g(x)= (9x/8)+(1/4) = (9x+2)/8

f[g(x)] = f[(9x+2)/8]
= [8[9x+2]/8 -2]/9
= [9x +2-2]/9
= [9x]/9
= x

g[f(x)] = g[(8x-2)/9]
= [9[(8x-2)/9]+2]/8
= [8x-2+2]/8
= x

Therefor f and g are inverse to one another.
