The age of a man seven years ago was seven times the age of his son.

So let their ages 7 years ago be x and 7x.

Father's age after 3 years will be three times the age of the son.

3 years from now is 10 years after 7 years ago. So in 3 years their ages will be x+10 and 7x+10.

Write and solve the equation that says in 3 years the man's age will be 3 times the son's age:

7x%2B10+=+3%28x%2B10%29

Then, after solving the equation for x, remember that the question asks for their current ages, which are x+7 and 7x+7.
