Working together, two pumps fill  1%2F3  of the pool per hour.


Older pump fills  1%2F13  of the pool per hour.


Hence, new pump  fills  1%2F3+-+1%2F13 = 13%2F39+-+3%2F39 = 10%2F39  of the pool per hour.


It means that this pump requires  39%2F10 hours = 3.9 hours = 3 hours and 54 minutes to fill the pool working alone.
