You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In one day Pauline Shannon drove front royal Virginia to Asheville ,North
Carolina,distance of 492 miles.For part of the trip she drove at a steady
rate of 50 miles per hour,but in some areas she drove at a steady rate of 35
miles per hour.If the total time of the trip was 11.13 hours,how far did she
travel at each speed.
D = RT, R = D/T, T = D/R

She drove x miles at 50 mph, and that took her T = D/R = x/50 hours
She drove 492-x miles at 35 mph, and that took her T = D/R = (492-x)/35 hours

Those two times must add up to 11.13 hours, So,

x%2F50+%2B+%28492-x%29%2F35+=+11.13

Solve that and get x = 341.5 miles at 50 mph,
Substitute that in 492-x, get 492-341.5 = 150.5 at 35 mph.
