You can put this solution on YOUR website!

supplementary angles are two angles whose sum is 180°
if angles X and Y, we have
X%2BY=180°
if angle Xis 3 times the measure of angle Y, we have
X=3Y
=> 3Y%2BY=180°
4Y=180°
Y=180%2F4°
Y=45°

=>X=3Y
X=3%2A45
X=135°

Angles X and Y are supplementary angles. Angle X is 3 times the measure of angle Y. What is the measure of angle X?
As one angle is X, the other (Y) is: 180 - X
We then get: X = 3(180 - X)
X = 540 - 3X
X + 3X = 540

That's ALL!!

Angles X and Y are supplementary angles. Angle X is 3 times the measure of angle Y. What is the measure of angle X?
---------
X + Y = 180
X = 3Y
-----------
3Y + Y = 180
