The rate of flying is  540%2F15 = 36 miles per hour.


The distance flying in 7 hours is  36*7 = 252 miles.



Alternatively, you can solve the problem using proportion


    540%2F15 = x%2F7,


    x = %28540%2A7%29%2F15.


You will get the same answer.


Notice that both parts of the proportion represent the rate of flying per hour.
