and (x+1) be the larger number
then we rewrite the problem as
x%2B%28x%2B1%29=49
combining like terms
2x%2B1=49
subtract 1 from both side of the equation we get
2x=48
divide both side by 2 and we get
x=24
therefore the two consecutive numbers are 24 and 25
