if they have the sum of 14,we have

x%2By=14 ....eq.1

and if they have the difference of 6, we have
x-y=6 ....eq.2

now, solve this system:
x%2By=14 ....eq.1
x-y=6 ....eq.2
--------------------------------add both equations
x%2Bcross%28y%29%2Bx-cross%28y%29=14%2B6
2x=20
x=10
now find y

10%2By=14 ....eq.1
y=14-10
y=4

so, your numbers are: 4 and 10
