Find 3 consecutive odd integers where the sum of the 2nd and 3rd integer is 80
--------------
1st:: 2x-1
2nd:: 2x+1
3rd:: 2x+3
----------------
Equation:
2x+1 + 2x+3 = 80
4x = 76
x = 19
------
1st:: 2*19-1 = 37
2nd:: 39
3rd:: 41
--------------

Find 3 consecutive odd integers where the sum of the 2nd and 3rd integer is 80
Let the first be F
Then the 2nd and 3rd are: F + 2, and F + 4, respectively
We then get: F + 2 + F + 4 = 80
2F = 74
F, or first number = highlight_green%28matrix%281%2C3%2C+74%2F2%2C+%22=%22%2C+37%29%29
2nd and 3rd: 39 and 41.

Notice that in this problem the very first of the three consecutive integers does not participate at all.

So you can reformulate the problem simpler in this equivalent way:

    Find two consecutive odd integer numbers that sum up to 80.

In this case, you can simply divide 80 by 2 to determine the central / (the middle) integer between these two and get 40.

So, the two integers (the second and the third of the original triple) are 39 and 41, so the entire triple is 37, 39 and 40.

You do not need use equations to solve it - you can do it MENTALLY.
