Question 1128283: Write an equation describing the relationship of the given variables.
y varies jointly as x and the square root of z and when x = 8 and z = 49,then y = 840.
*I know that the formula is z=kyx, but every time I go plug in the variables in each appropriate place the answers are wrong. My answers so far have been k= 840/ 8 sqrt(49), k=840/ 8 sqrt(7), and y= 840/ 8 sqrt(49). If someone can help explaining how to correctly set up joint variation equation, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Write an equation describing the relationship of the given variables.
y varies jointly as x and the square root of z and when x = 8 and z = 49,then y = 840.
y = kx*
8k* = 840
8k * 7 = 840
56k = 840
k = 840/56
k = 15
