I'll give two examples first:
If the six digits were a,b,c,d,e,f, then the
number would look like 
abcdef
Go right to left:
The f is the ones place.
The e is the tens place.
The d is the hundreds place.
The c is the thousands place.
The b is the ten-thousands place.
The a is the hundred-thousands place.
If the six digits were 7,8,1,6,5,2, then the
number would look like this:
781652
Go right to left:
The 2 is the ones place.
The 5 is the tens place.
The 6 is the hundreds place.
The 1 is the thousands place.
The 8 is the ten-thousands place.
The 7 is the hundred-thousands place.
So look at the number 334333
Go right to left:
The last 3 is the ones place.
The next to last 3 is the tens place.
The third from the last 3 is the hundreds place.
The only 4 is the thousands place.
The second 3 is the ten-thousands place.
The first 3 is the hundred-thousands place.
