Question 1126222: Fahrenheit Celcius
Boiling point of water 212° 100°
Freezing point of water 32° 0°
Absolute zero –459.6° –273.1°
1. To convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, subtract 32 and multiply by 59 .
Write a formula to describe this relationship. Define any variables that you have used.
2. Mercury is liquid in the range from –38.20°F to 674.06°F. Use your formula to convert this range to degrees Celsius.
3. Rearrange the equation in a. to make Fahrenheit the subject of the formula.
7. A ladder, of length 5 metres, is placed against a wall at an angle of 65° to the horizontal
1. Draw a diagram to represent the situation.
2. Use your knowledge of trigonometric ratios to calculate how high up the wall the ladder will reach.
3. How far will the foot of the ladder be from the base of the building?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Too many separate questions in one posting.

(1) F and C temperatures

Identify two points and create the formula.
Points (F,C) are (32,0) and (212,100).

C-0=%28%28100-0%29%2F%28212-32%29%29%28F-32%29 in point-slope form
C=%2810%2F18%29%28F-32%29
C=%285%2F9%29%28F-32%29
C=%285%2F9%29F-160%2F9 slope-intercept form, which you might approximate as C=%285%2F9%29F-17.8.
That is formula for Celsius as function of Fahrenheit.

If you want F as a function of C, then just solve the equation for F.

(2) and (3)
You do those on your own.

This is conversion, not really a math problem.
------
C = 5(F - 32)/9
F = 1.8C + 32
-----------
To convert from C to F:
Multiply by 9 and add 160, then double it.
Move the decimal point 1 to the right.
eg:
37C = (9*37 + 160)*2 = 493*2/10 = 98.6F
You can do that "in your head."
