Question 1126124: the charges of a hired car are RS.8per km for the first 60 km, Rs.6 per km for the next 60 km and Rs.4per km for any further journey, if the balance amount left over with Mr.rashid is 1/4 of what he paid towards the charges of the hired car for traveling 450 km, how much money did he have initially with him?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The first charge is .8*60 or 48 Rs
The second is .6*60 or 36 Rs
That is 120 km. There are 330 km left and that charge would be 132 Rs
His total charges are 216 Rs, and if the amount left over is 1/4 of what he paid He has 54 Rs left over and therefore started with 270 Rs
Note: if it is Rs. 8 per km for the first 60 km with the period being with the Rs and not with the cost, then everything is 10 times larger.
