Factor and solve the cubic polynomial function. Use the three zeros to divide the -axis into four open intervals. Choose a value from each of the open intervals (that is, do NOT choose an interval endpoint), and evaluate the function at that value. The sign of the result will be the sign of the function value on every point in that open interval. The union of the intervals with positive function values is your solution set.
