Let the number be x
(x+2)/2=(x+8)/3
3(x+2)=2(x+8) multiply each side by 6 to eliminate fractions.
3x+6=2x+16
x=10 add -2x-6 to each side.
Check:
(10+2)/2=(10+8)/3 true
