Scientific Calculator: 3 x 5 (5/12) = 6 x 7.48052 = 47 Gallons. But I don't know how to go 3ftx5ftx5inches/12"x7.48052 = _______ I don't know how to do it this way. I can't remember how to put 5/12 into a fraction to reach 47 gallons.Its nice having the help of the Scientific Calculator but I'd like to understand how I got 47 gallons answer. 1 gallon = ~232 cu inches
10800/232 = ~ 47 gallons.

The units for the 3 measurements have to match, either all feet or all inches.
----
5 inches = 5/12 feet.
--> 3*5*(5/12) = 6.25 cu ft.
6.25*7.48 = ~ 47 gallons, same result.
