Question 1123442: Solve for each variable Show me so I understand
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! (3/2m)-6/m(2+m)=1/(m+2), notice I factored out an m in the second term, and I see that it is the same as m+2, since addition is commutative. The common denominator is 2m(m+2), since all three denominators evenly divide into it.
Multiply each term by the LCD of 2m (m+2)
2m divides into it m+2 times, so multiply 3 by (m+2)=3m+6. First term
m(2+m) divides into it 2 times, so the second term is -12
m+2 divides into it 2m times, so the term on the right is 2m
therefore 3m+6-2m=12 is the numerator, and rearranging, the problem is now
m=6 ANSWER
Check
3/12 - 6/48=1/8
12/48-6/48=6/48, which is 1/8
