--------------------
Why can't you sub for y in eqn 1?
===============
You can solve for y in either eqn then sub into the other equn.
========
Or, you can solve for x in either eqn, then sub for x in the other eqn.
----
For this problem, solving for y in the 2nd, then subbing for y into the 1st is the simplest approach.

2t=y%2B2
t=%28y%2B2%29%2F2

x=5-4%28%28y%2B2%29%2F2%29%5E2-------------simplify this.
