First find the area of the older television

A=s%5E2


A=%283%29%5E2=3%2A3=9


Now find the area of the newer model

A=%283.2%29%5E2=%283.2%29%2A%283.2%29=10.24


So the area of the TV increased from 9 to 10.24 sq cm. Now simply subtract 9 from 10.24 to get


10.24-9=1.24

So the area of the television increased 1.24 sq cm
