You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2%2F%28sqrt%286%29-sqrt%285%29%29+

You must multiply the numerator and denominator by the conjugate of the denominator--that is, the same as the denominator but with the opposite sign in the middle.

+%282%2A%28sqrt%286%29+%2B+sqrt%285%29%29%2F%286-5%29%29+
2%2A%28sqrt%286%29+%2B+sqrt%285%29%29+ or 2%2Asqrt%286%29+%2B+2%2Asqrt%285%29+

If you have a calculator handy, you can check this by calculating the decimal approximation for the problem, and then calculating the decimal approximation for the answer. If these calculator answers agree, then you are probably right! If not, then you may have an error to find. In this case, the calculator gives the same approximate value 9.37111544, so it must be correct.

For additional explanations, please see my Lesson Plans on this topic in algebra.com, or see my website by clicking on my tutor name "rapaljer" anywhere in algebra.com. If you go to my website, then take the first link on the page, which is "BASIC or INTERMEDIATE: ONE STEP AT A TIME", then look for "Chapter 5," then Section 5.06 Rationalizing Denominators.
See also my "MATH IN LIVING COLOR" page, and look in "Intermediate Algebra", "Section 3.04 Rationalizing Denominators." Both of these sections should be helpful to you, with the second one having lots of problems solved in color!!
