Question 1122015: In a survey 7 out of 10 people responded with true. If 350 people responded True then how many people took part in the survey?
How many responded Falce Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source):
let x equal the number of people total.
then 7/10 * x = 350
multiply both sides of the equation by 10/7 to get:
10/7 * 10/7 * x = 350 * 10/7
simplify to get x = 10/7 * 350
simplify further to get x = 500
that's the number of people who took part in the survey
500 - 350 = 150 responded false.
150 / 500 = 15 / 50 = 3 / 10
3 out of 10 responded false.
7 out of 10 true plus 3 out of 10 false equals 10 out of 10 total.
350 out of 500 true plus 150 out of 500 false equals 500 out of 500 total.
