Question 1121922: Please help me see if I'm on the right track. I've come up with two different answers.
The length of a rectangle is 4 inches less than twice the width and the perimeter is 32. Find the dimensions of the rectangle.
What I did 1st attempt:
32=2(x)+2(2x-4)
32=2x+4x-8
32+8=2x+4x-8+8
40=6x
40/6 = 6x/6
20/3 = x
What I did 2nd attempt:
32=2(2x)+2(x-4)
32=4x+2x-4
32+4=4x+2x-4+4
36=6x
36/6 = 6x/6
6 = x
