You can put this solution on YOUR website! If you mean 37.5% of the customers ordered banana splits, then yes that converts to 3/8.
Subtract the percentage from 100% to get the percent of people who didn't order banana splits. So, 100% - 37.5% = 62.5%
If x is the total number of people, then 0.375 times that amount will get you 6. This means
x*0.375 = 6
x*0.375/0.375 = 6/0.375 <--- dividing both sides by 0.375
x = 16
Or you can use the fraction format
(3/8)*x = 6
(8/3)*(3/8)x = 6*(8/3) <--- multiplying both sides by the reciprocal
x = 48/3
x = 16
So there are 16 people at the store (6 ordered banana splits; 10 did not). Note how 10/16 = 5/8 = 0.625, showing there are multiple ways to tie the answers together.
--------------------------------------------
In summary:
3/8 is the correct fraction for the first question
There are 16 people at the store
62.5% of the customers did not order banana splits
